GlamDance studio closure

Dear couples and dance friends. Sadly we have some bad news about Glam Dance studio in Croydon. Unfortunately the landlord has decided to terminate our agreement without any explanation and has given us a notice of 16 days. We have to move out of the studio on October 15th. We are deeply shocked and disappointed in the way we were and are treated and how the situation has been handled, particularly when we were lead to believe our relationship with the landlord was based on years of mutual respect and friendship.

We have asked ourselves and the landlord numerous times what could cause such immediate and drastic actions but have not received even a slightest hint of an explanation and all our requests to meet and have a further discussion were met with silence, we are simply being ignored. We know many would ask what happened but astonishingly we have no idea! We of course are very saddened and heartbroken as we’ve put all our energy, time and considerable financial expense into part of the renovations and a lot of equipment at Glam Dance to make it a successful, warm and friendly studio for all the dancers. It has just started to really reach its potential and it’s sad to see our efforts and work go to waste, it has been our dance home for the last 4 years.

We are stunned and hurt as Anna and myself seem to be the people which know the least of what was going on behind our backs. We were aiming to make the studio a place for all couples of all levels to come and enjoy, which is now taken away from all of us as ballroom 2 is rented out for pole dancing activities and can’t be used for practice. Over the few years we’ve managed Glam Dance we have discovered how many couples loved coming to us for individual practice which is a very rare opportunity in this area.

We cherish the time we had with all of you and hope you will join us when we find another space for Glam Dance. As we are unable to contact the owner and don’t know who will take over the space we request here for the name of Glam Dance not to be used without our consent as it is our concept and philosophy and not the space that the name represents.

We are proud of what we have achieved during the past 4 years and we are confident that we’ve maintained our integrity despite everything we’ve been through. The times are changing but reputation remains-we have full confidence in ours. We don’t consider the landlord’s decision to be fair or reasonable but there’s nothing we can do about it.

We apologise to all the couples and students for the inconvenience and such an abrupt ending, we did all in our power to prevent this but to no avail. We hope that whoever takes over the space they have the same love and respect for our world of competitive dance as we do.
With love.

Rachid and Anna
